Into My Life a Mystery
They walk into my life a mystery, and then
They crawl up & down my spine, a chill
With feet like heartbeats pounding
I race to them so fast
And they are gone
I turn behind to the sunset pinking
Dripping sappy tears as remains
The crust of white salts the brow
So tired of it all, and now
When you were calling out my name
I heard so many voices
And thought them all yours
I saw so many faces
I wished them all yours,
Wished each one a smile.
But the stains of the last Sunday
And Monday of summer
Your kiss goodbye
So fragile, a breaking sunset
So dark, it all will grow
Before I forget
Your silhouette in the moonlight
On the sand at the beach
In my mind, so out of reach
Gone
It is all so lost to me now.
