Disconnect

Your footsteps I hear
In the distance I hide
Time is a chasm
I’m drowning inside
    To see the sky
    I’m reaching up
Swirling around
Indecision on my mind
What do I want
Am I just left behind

Disconnect
The distance between you and I
Disconnect
This broken feeling I’m dying inside
I thought this was a future
Not the reliving of my past
Perhaps I only stopped to reach
For what I thought I could grasp
Disconnect
You’re distant, aloof, so far removed
Disconnected, we are
The disconnect

It wasn’t caring
It wasn’t conceit
It was calculated
So clean and neat
Not complicated
Although you tried
It was motions and words
With no feeling inside
I knew the situation
I tried to know you
But with time as an enemy
Only the distance was true

Disconnect
The distance between you and I
Disconnect
This broken feeling I’m dying inside
I thought this was a future
Not the reliving of my past
Perhaps I only stopped to reach
For what I thought I could grasp
Disconnect
You’re distant, aloof, so far removed
Disconnected, we are
The disconnect

And so it ends
With the seasons we change
A few more months
It all starts over again
